Answers to common questions about the Brave Words app.

Bina isn't hearing my child

Brave Words only listens with Apple's on-device speech recogniser. Check that the iPad allows the microphone for Brave Words (iPad Settings › Brave Words › Microphone). If the iPad can't recognise speech on the device, the microphone stays off and a grown-up confirms each answer with the helper buttons instead.

Grown-ups › Mic Check runs a short test and can share a log with us.

I forgot the grown-up PIN

On the PIN screen, choose “Forgot PIN?”. You'll confirm with the iPad's own passcode or Face ID, then set a new PIN. Progress is kept.

Moving to a new iPad

Progress moves with an encrypted backup (iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup). Profile photos and the grown-up PIN don't move; you'll set a new PIN on the new iPad.

Erasing data

Grown-ups › Settings has “Erase progress”, “Remove” for one child, and “Erase everything”. Reports you've already shared aren't affected. The privacy policy explains exactly what each one removes.

Speech therapists

Add goals in Grown-ups › Goals on the family's iPad. If a goal needs something the app can't practise yet, use “Ask the CD team for a new skill” in the same tab to send us the wording.
